Patna: Political activity has intensified in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, with growing speculation that Nishant Kumar, son of the chief minister, Nitish Kumar, could be nominated as a candidate of the Janata Dal (United).

Elections are scheduled for five Rajya Sabha seats from the state. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, a senior JD(U) leader considered close to the chief minister, said on Tuesday that the decision on candidates would be taken solely by Nitish Kumar. He expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win all five seats and said two of them “should go to the JD(U)”.

Responding to questions about Nishant Kumar’s possible entry into politics, Chaudhary said that if he chose to join public life, party leaders would welcome him. He added that a significant section within the JD(U) wanted Nishant to enter active politics, though no official announcement had been made and the party had not finalised its candidates.

His remarks have been widely interpreted in political circles as a signal that discussions are under way within the party.

Shrawon Kumar, a Bihar minister and JD(U) leader, went further, saying Nishant Kumar would “soon enter active politics”. Speaking to the Press Trust of India, he said that the move would fulfil a long-standing demand from many young supporters who had been urging him to take on a political role.

“On the occasion of Holi, I want to inform you that Nishant Kumar’s name has been discussed throughout the state for a long time. He will soon enter active politics,” Shravan Kumar said, adding that he wished him success in his political journey.

Another JD(U) minister, Ashok Choudhary, said the party had for some time believed Nishant should assume an active political role. “He is educated, an engineer, and a true copy of Nitish Kumar. He is entering active politics on the demand of party workers,” Choudhary said, describing the development as a “big Holi gift” for the party.

Despite the flurry of statements, the chief minister has not publicly confirmed any plans regarding his son’s political future. With nominations yet to be finalised, attention remains focused on whether the Rajya Sabha elections will mark Nishant Kumar’s formal entry into politics.

  • 🌩️ Big weather shift in Bihar!
After days of intense heat, relief is finally on the way as storms and rainfall are set to hit the state from April 25. According to India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system over the region will bring thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rain for the next few days 🌧️
🌡️ While northern districts may see immediate showers and cooler conditions, parts of south Bihar—including Gaya and Rohtas—could still face heatwave conditions for a bit longer.
⚠️ Alerts have been issued: • Yellow alert in several districts for thunderstorms & lightning
• Orange alert in parts of north Bihar with chances of heavy rain
• Wind speeds may reach up to 50 km/h
📍 Cities like Patna, Bhagalpur, and others are expected to see a dip in temperature by April 27–28.
💡 Stay safe: Avoid open areas during lightning, limit outdoor activity in peak heat, and stay hydrated.
Relief is coming—but caution is still key ⚡🌦️

  • 🚧 Big shift in urban development in Bihar!
The government has rolled out a new township policy that could change how cities expand. Under the land pooling model, landowners will get back 55% of their land as fully developed plots, while the remaining land will be used for roads, infrastructure, public amenities, and housing.
🌆 New greenfield townships are planned across 11 cities, including Patna, aiming to boost planned growth and significantly increase land value over time.
💡 Instead of direct compensation, the focus is on long-term gains—with better roads, electricity, water supply, and civic facilities expected to raise property prices.
⚖️ To ensure smooth execution, the government has also: • Introduced transparency measures
• Set timelines and penalties for delays
• Imposed restrictions on land sale in selected areas to prevent speculation
📈 The move positions landowners as stakeholders in development—turning raw land into a future asset.

  • 🌡️ Heatwave hits hard, and Patna is feeling the surge—literally!
As temperatures cross 40°C, the city’s electronics market is booming with a sharp rise in demand for ACs, coolers, and fans. Sales have jumped by 25–35%, with buyers increasingly choosing energy-efficient options like BLDC fans and inverter ACs to cut down on electricity bills ⚡
Prices have also gone up by 5–8%, and high demand means quick deliveries are getting tougher. From Rs 30,000–60,000 ACs to budget-friendly coolers, every segment is seeing strong traction this summer.
With the heat showing no signs of slowing, Patna’s cooling appliance market is expected to generate business worth Rs 300–400 crore this season 💰
