Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Nitin Nabin, the party’s national president, as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, marking another significant step in the career of one of the BJP’s youngest national leaders.
Nabin assumed the role of BJP national president at the age of 45, making him the youngest person to hold the position in the party’s history. His nomination for the upper house of parliament signals the party leadership’s confidence in his political stature within the organisation.
According to the election affidavit he submitted during the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, the total assets of Nabin and his family are valued at approximately Rs 3.08 crore. The declaration includes both movable and immovable assets.
The affidavit states that the family’s movable assets amount to about Rs 1.60 crore. His wife’s movable assets are reported to be around Rs 84 lakh. Nabin’s immovable assets, which include property holdings, are valued at roughly Rs 1.47 crore.
Despite these holdings, the affidavit shows that Nabin maintains relatively modest liquid cash reserves. He has declared Rs 55,000 in cash, while deposits in bank accounts total around Rs 62 lakh. The documents also indicate that he has outstanding liabilities of approximately Rs 56.6 lakh owed to banks and financial institutions.
In terms of education, Nabin has reported holding an intermediate-level qualification, as disclosed in the same affidavit.
The filing also lists personal assets such as vehicles and jewellery. Nabin owns two SUVs—a Mahindra Scorpio and a Toyota Innova Crysta—with a combined value of around Rs 37.8 lakh. The vehicles were reportedly purchased in October 2022. In addition, he and his wife jointly possess gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 11.3 lakh.
Born in Ranchi, Nabin is the son of senior BJP leader Naveen Kishore Prasad Sinha. Over the years, he has built his political career in Patna, serving as a five-time MLA representing constituencies including Bankipur.
His unopposed appointment as the BJP’s 12th national president and his nomination to the Rajya Sabha underline his growing prominence within the party’s national leadership.
