Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued fresh directions requiring advertisers and private building owners to submit complete details of advertising hoardings, unipoles and banners installed across the city.
The order aims to assess the current status of outdoor advertising structures in the municipal area, ensure compliance with existing regulations and introduce systemic improvements in monitoring.
Under the directive, owners of private buildings where hoardings have been installed must provide detailed information to the municipal corporation, including the size, location and type of advertising structure.
Structural safety documents required
Officials said that hoardings installed on private buildings must comply with building bylaws to ensure public safety.
Building owners are required to submit copies of agreements with advertising agencies along with structural stability test certificates to the municipal corporation before installing hoardings.
Authorities said these requirements are intended to prevent accidents caused by unsafe structures.
Advertisers asked to submit data
The municipal commissioner has directed all advertising agencies operating in the PMC area to submit updated details of every hoarding, unipole and advertising structure in a prescribed format.
Reports must be submitted both in soft copy and hard copy to the Advertisement Cell at the corporation headquarters located at the Mauryalok Complex. Advertisers can also send the details via the corporation’s official email.
Officials said the information will be verified through physical inspections conducted by the municipal corporation.
Details required in the report
The corporation has specified several details that must be included in the report, including:
- Name and zone of the site
- Ward number
- Dimensions and total area of the hoarding
- Type of site (government or private property)
- Consent letter from the land or building owner
- Owner’s name, address and contact details
- Latitude and longitude of the installation site
According to municipal records, 56 advertisers have so far submitted information on hoardings covering about 11.1 lakh square feet.
However, officials said several agencies have yet to provide details despite earlier notices issued through newspaper advertisements on February 25 and March 8, 9 and 11.
Warning of legal action
The municipal commissioner has warned that any hoarding or unipole whose details are not submitted within the stipulated time will be treated as illegal.
In such cases, action may be taken under the Bihar Municipal Act, 2007 and other applicable rules.
The municipal corporation has appealed to advertisers and building owners to submit the required documents promptly to avoid administrative or punitive action.
