Patna: Bihar’s political landscape was jolted on Monday night as RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s flight from Patna to Kolkata was forced to divert to Guwahati due to severe weather conditions, just hours after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a clean sweep of all five Rajya Sabha seats in the state.
The IndiGo flight carrying Yadav, who departed Patna following the Mahagathbandhan’s (Grand Alliance) electoral setback, was unable to land in Kolkata as worsening rain and storm conditions disrupted air traffic. The aircraft was subsequently redirected to Guwahati Airport, with authorities stating that the journey to Kolkata will resume once the weather stabilises.
Political analysts noted that the Mahagathbandhan’s defeat has intensified speculation of internal discord within the alliance. Reports suggest that alleged defections by some RJD and Congress MLAs may have contributed to the setback, raising questions about cohesion and strategy within the opposition ranks in Bihar.
