Bhagalpur/Patna: The Regional Passport Office Patna organised a two-day Passport Mobile Van Camp at the Bhagalpur College of Engineering campus from March 17 to March 18, as part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ citizen-focused initiative, Passport Seva – Passport at Your Doorstep.
The special camp was aimed at facilitating passport services for students and faculty members, enabling them to complete application procedures within the college premises without visiting a Passport Seva Kendra.
The camp was jointly inaugurated by principal Raju Mulchandji Tugnayat and Swadha Rizvi, regional passport officer, Patna.
Strong response from students
Officials said the camp received an encouraging response, particularly from students planning to pursue higher education abroad or explore international career opportunities.
Through the mobile van facility, applicants were able to complete the entire passport process on-site, including document verification, biometric data collection and submission of applications.
A total of 95 appointments were scheduled for the camp, including 77 male and 18 female applicants. Most were students applying for fresh passports.
Expanding access to services
Officials said the initiative significantly eased the process for applicants by eliminating the need to travel to passport service centres.
The camp was the 16th such mobile van initiative organised by the Regional Passport Office since April 2024. Around 2,000 applicants across Bihar have benefited from similar outreach programmes so far.
Speaking at the event, Rizvi said such initiatives help make passport services more accessible and inclusive, particularly for young applicants.
The college administration also welcomed the initiative, with the principal expressing appreciation for efforts to bring essential services closer to students.
Officials said the next Passport Mobile Van Camp is scheduled to be held at Nalanda University in April 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to expand access to efficient and citizen-friendly passport services.
