Patna: The Bihar government has said there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the state, urging residents to disregard rumours and rely on official channels for information and grievance redressal.
The food and consumer protection minister, Leshi Singh, made the statement on Tuesday after inspecting a state-level control room set up in Patna to address issues related to LPG supply. She said adequate stocks were available and that the supply chain was functioning smoothly across the state.
Singh appealed to the public not to be misled by unverified reports and advised consumers to contact dedicated helplines in case of any difficulty. The state-level control room, operational from 7am to 9pm, has been equipped with multiple telephone lines to handle a high volume of calls and ensure quicker resolution of complaints.
Officials said similar control rooms have been established in all districts, with contact numbers being publicised to improve accessibility for consumers facing LPG-related issues.
Abhay Kumar Singh, secretary of the department, reiterated that there was sufficient availability of domestic gas cylinders and that authorities were closely monitoring distribution. He added that instructions had been issued to district officials and police to act against black marketing.
Priority supply is being ensured for hospitals and educational institutions, he said, while also confirming that petrol and diesel stocks in the state remain adequate.
Under existing guidelines, urban consumers can book a refill 25 days after their last delivery, while those in rural areas can do so after 45 days.
The department has urged residents to remain calm and make use of the control room facilities for any concerns.
