Patna: Residents of Patna can once again take to the waters of the Ganga River, as the Ro-Pax cruise service resumed operations on Sunday following a nearly three-month suspension for maintenance.
The cruise, which departs from Janardan Ghat in the Digha area, has returned with revised pricing and duration. Ticket fares have been reduced from Rs 300 to Rs 250 per person, while the duration of the ride has been marginally shortened from 45 minutes to 40 minutes. The vessel can accommodate up to 300 passengers.
Officials said plans are underway to expand the cruise route up to Gandhi Ghat, a move that would significantly enhance the experience by offering a journey of around 15km along the river. A formal proposal for the extension is expected to be submitted in April to the state tourism corporation, district administration and transport department.
At present, the service operates primarily around the Digha stretch of the river.
In addition to regular rides, the cruise offers advance booking options for private events such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries and engagements. Packages ranging from one to eight hours are available, with prices varying between Rs 40,000 and Rs 2.20 lakh.
