Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board Class 10 results for 2026 have revealed a disappointing performance from the state capital, with Patna failing to secure a single position in the top-10 merit list and ranking 118th among districts.
In contrast, students from other districts dominated the top ranks. Pushpanjali Kumari from Jamui’s Simultala and Sabreen Parveen from Vaishali jointly topped the examination, each scoring 492 out of 500 marks.
A total of 139 students featured in the top-10 merit list this year, reflecting strong performances from across the state, though notably excluding the capital.
The overall pass percentage stood at 81.79%, with 1,235,743 students successfully clearing the examination out of more than 1.5 million candidates who appeared.
Girls once again outperformed boys in the results. According to official data, 634,353 female students passed the examination compared with 601,390 male students, continuing a consistent trend of stronger performance by female candidates.
The results were announced by Education Minister Sunil Kumar. The examinations had been conducted between February 17 and February 26 across 1,762 centres in Bihar.
Students can access their results through official websites by entering their roll number and roll code. In areas with limited internet connectivity, results are also available via SMS by sending “BIHAR10 [ROLL NUMBER]” to 56263.
The board has also announced cash rewards for top performers, with prizes of up to Rs 200,000 aimed at recognising academic excellence and encouraging students to achieve higher standards in future examinations.
