Patna: An affordable food outlet and upgraded digital connectivity were inaugurated at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport on Sunday, as part of efforts to improve passenger experience and accessibility.
The UDAN Yatri Café and enhanced Wi-Fi facilities were virtually launched in the check-in area by Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, the Union civil aviation minister.
The café is part of a government initiative led by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India. It aims to provide quality refreshments at affordable prices, offering snacks and beverages at economical rates for passengers across income groups.
Officials said the upgraded Wi-Fi services are designed to deliver seamless, high-speed internet connectivity, enabling a more convenient and digitally integrated travel experience.

Addressing the gathering, Kinjarapu highlighted the expanding role of airports in strengthening connectivity and logistics as India moves towards becoming a developed nation. He noted that the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 to 165, extending air connectivity beyond metropolitan centres to smaller cities and towns.
He also pointed to the expansion of airports under the UDAN scheme, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, as a step towards inclusive civil aviation. Emphasising the importance of digital infrastructure, he said initiatives such as free Wi-Fi and affordable food options are crucial in improving overall passenger convenience.
Airport authorities said the introduction of these facilities marks another step in ongoing efforts to modernise services and infrastructure at the Patna airport.
“Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport remains committed to continuous development, with a focus on providing safe, seamless and passenger-friendly services,” the airport director, Chandra Pratap Dwivedi, said.
