Banka: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced the results of the Matriculation examination, with two students jointly securing the top rank this year.
Pushpanjali Kumari of Simultala Residential School in Jamui and Sabrin Parveen of Higher Secondary School in Vaishali both scored 492 marks, achieving 98.40% and sharing the top position in the state.
Speaking after the results, Pushpanjali said she was overwhelmed by her performance. “I can’t believe my result was so good,” she said.
She credited her success to consistent effort and guidance from her father. “I studied for nearly 15 hours a day. My father has guided me since the beginning. Even after joining Simultala, he continued to help me during vacations,” she said.
Pushpanjali, who hails from Gopalpur village in Banka district, completed her early education at a local school before joining Simultala Residential School. Her father, Lalmohan Sharma, is a school teacher, while her mother, Sindhu Devi, is a homemaker. Celebrations have been reported in her village, with relatives and neighbours visiting to congratulate the family.
Looking ahead, Pushpanjali said she plans to pursue science in intermediate and aspires to become a scientist.
The results also highlighted the continued strong performance of girls in the state. Out of 14 students featured in the merit list, eight are girls, reinforcing a trend seen in recent years.
Overall, 81.79% of students passed the examination this year, slightly lower than last year’s pass percentage of 82.11%.
Bihar’s education minister Sunil Kumar and BSEB chairman Anand Kishore congratulated the successful candidates and acknowledged their achievements.
