Patna: Commuting on the Patna–Bakhtiyarpur stretch of National Highway-30 is set to become costlier from April 1, with revised toll rates coming into effect at the Didarganj toll plaza.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll charges by between 3.7% and 7.7% on the 50.6km four-lane corridor connecting Sipara to Bakhtiyarpur. Officials said the revision is part of the routine annual adjustment.
Around 12,000 vehicles pass through the toll plaza each day, with all payments collected electronically through FASTag.
Under the revised rates, the one-way toll for light motor vehicles has been increased from Rs 135 to Rs 140, while the charge for a return journey within 24 hours has risen from Rs 200 to Rs 215.
Monthly passes for light vehicles have also been revised upwards, from Rs 4,475 to Rs 4,730.
Commercial vehicles will see higher charges as well. Tolls for small commercial vehicles have been raised from Rs 205 to Rs 215, while buses and trucks will now pay Rs 435, up from Rs 410.
For heavy vehicles with three to six axles, the toll has increased from Rs 620 to Rs 655, while vehicles with seven or more axles will be charged Rs 860, compared with Rs 815 earlier.
Residents living within a 20km radius of the toll plaza will also be affected, with monthly pass rates rising from Rs 340 to Rs 360.
Emergency and government vehicles, including ambulances, military, police and postal vehicles, will remain exempt from toll charges.
Facilities such as ambulances, cranes, drinking water, restrooms and first aid services will continue to be available at the toll plaza for commuters.
