Patna: The Department of Advertising and Marketing Management at Patna Women’s College, an autonomous institution under Patna University, successfully conducted a guest lecture focused on career decision-making strategies on August 23, 2024. The event featured Dr. Shalini Sharma, Dean of Outreach and Student Welfare (OSW) and a Professor at GIMS, Greater Noida, as the keynote speaker.

In her lecture titled “How to Decide Your Career Path,” Dr. Sharma provided students with insightful guidance on the processes involved in making career choices. She delved into both intuitive and rational decision-making strategies, using engaging examples from cricket, Bollywood, and the film Titanic to illustrate a hybrid model that combines these approaches. Dr. Sharma emphasized the importance of staying attuned to emerging job opportunities and continuously upgrading one’s skills in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive job market.

She also highlighted the significance of personal mottos and the need for upskilling in career development, urging students to make decisions that are well-informed and aligned with their personal goals and aspirations. The lecture was met with enthusiasm from students in Semester III and V of the Advertising and Marketing Management Department, as well as those in Semester V from the Department of Business Administration and Commerce.

The event was a key initiative in helping students shape their future careers, providing them with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate their professional paths effectively.
