Jan Suraaj to Field 40 Women Candidates in Bihar Elections, 4% Loans for Women for Self- Employment
Patna: Jan Suraaj has taken a major resolution regarding putting women at the core of the campaign, promising to field at least 40 women candidates in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. This announcement was made by Prashant Kishore, the convenor of Jan Suraj, during a “Mahila Samvad” event held on Sunday at Patna’s Bapu Sabhagar, where thousands of women from across the state gathered.
Kishore also unveiled a significant economic initiative, pledging that Jan Suraaj would provide loans to women at a 4% interest rate, secured by government guarantees, to support self-employment. Emphasizing the importance of economic empowerment, he stated that true equality for women can only be achieved when they are financially independent.
During his address, Kishore assured the women that his movement is committed to ensuring their political and economic advancement. He further promised that by Chhath in 2025, Jan Suraaj would work to create local employment opportunities in Bihar, so that families no longer have to send their loved ones to big cities in search of work. Kishore’s vision is to provide jobs within the state, offering salaries between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15,000, thereby reducing the need for migration.
“Trust your brother Prashant,” he urged, reinforcing his commitment to supporting women in both politics and economic spheres, as Jan Suraaj continues its campaign to reshape Bihar’s future.
