Vaishali: A shocking incident has come to light from Vaishali district, where a station in-charge shot himself dead, creating a stir in the police department. The reason behind the incident is not yet clear.
The deceased has been identified as Kaushal Kumar, who was posted as the station in-charge at Jadhua outpost under the Nagar police station area. He had been selected as a sub-inspector in the 2019 batch.
According to police, he had taken charge as station in-charge only around 15 days ago. Earlier, he was posted at Vidupur police station. He was living with his family in a rented house in Bankman Colony.
Police said they received information around 7:30 pm on Monday evening that the officer had shot himself. When the team reached the spot, the room was found locked from inside. After opening the door, they found that he had used his service revolver.
Senior officers, including Superintendent of Police Vikram Sihag and SDPO Subodh Kumar, reached the spot soon after the incident. A forensic team has also been called to investigate all aspects of the case.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway. Police officials said that the exact reason behind the incident will be clear only after a detailed probe.
SP Vikram Sihag stated that prima facie it appears the officer acted alone after locking himself inside the room, and the matter may be linked to personal reasons. However, all angles are being examined.
The incident has raised concern within the police department, and officials are awaiting further findings from the investigation.
