Patna: The Patna district administration has begun preparations for the Patna Sahib Mahotsav 2026, with officials announcing a series of measures aimed at ensuring the smooth organisation of the two-day cultural event.
Chairing a review meeting at the district collectorate, Thiyagarajan S M said the festival, scheduled for April 14 and 15 in Patna, would be organised on a “grand scale” with coordinated efforts across departments.
The event is being jointly organised by the Bihar tourism department and the district administration.
Eight cells formed for execution
To streamline preparations, the administration has constituted eight specialised cells overseeing different aspects of the festival, including artist selection, stage management, logistics, law and order, sanitation, protocol, electrical arrangements and publicity.
Senior officials have been assigned key roles, with the deputy development commissioner appointed as senior nodal officer and the additional district magistrate (general) designated as nodal officer. Supporting officials have also been tasked with ensuring timely execution and coordination with the organising committee.
Cultural programmes and tourism focus
Officials said the festival will feature performances by national and international artists alongside local talent, with a focus on showcasing Bihar’s cultural heritage through folk music and dance.
The event will also include presentations highlighting the state’s historical, religious and archaeological significance, offering visitors an overview of Bihar’s key tourist destinations.
Emphasis on security and crowd management
The district magistrate directed officials to ensure robust arrangements for crowd control, traffic management and security during the event. Magistrates and police personnel will be deployed across the venue, while parking and barricading plans are also being finalised.
Facilities such as sanitation, drinking water, medical support and fire services are being coordinated through designated teams.
Call for public participation
Describing Patna Sahib as a globally significant centre of the Sikh faith, the district magistrate said the festival holds importance from both cultural and tourism perspectives.
He urged residents and visitors to actively participate in the Mahotsav, expressing confidence that the event would be organised in an “attractive and magnificent” manner.
