Patna: Renowned lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar on Tuesday visited the Bapu Tower Museum in Patna, describing it as one of the most impressive museums he has seen globally.
Akhtar was welcomed at the venue by the museum’s director, Vinay Kumar, who felicitated him with a bouquet, shawl and memento, and briefed him on the construction, objectives and exhibits of the institution.
‘A modern and vibrant museum’
During his visit, Akhtar toured various galleries showcasing the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. The exhibits — including historical photographs, murals, audio-visual installations and short films — offer an immersive account of Gandhi’s role in India’s freedom struggle.
“I have travelled across the world and visited many renowned museums, but I have never seen such an impressive, vibrant and modern museum dedicated to Gandhiji’s life and ideas,” Akhtar said, adding that the visit had offered him new insights into Gandhi’s life.

Blending history with technology
Located in Gardanibagh, the Bapu Tower Museum has been developed by the state’s building construction department as a contemporary space to showcase Gandhi’s philosophy and his association with Bihar.
The museum uses a combination of multimedia displays, sculptures and curated installations to present key moments from Gandhi’s life, aiming to engage visitors — particularly students and young audiences.
Officials said the museum is emerging as a major tourist attraction in Patna while also serving as an educational centre that brings history and values into a modern, interactive format.
Several dignitaries and officials associated with the museum were present during the visit.
