Patna: In the city of Patna, a major effort is underway to increase green spaces and improve the quality of urban life. Over the past 20 years, the city has developed or renovated 113 parks. These parks have been created to give people more open areas to relax, exercise, and spend time with family in a cleaner environment.
Officials say these parks have changed daily life for many residents. Most parks now include walking tracks, exercise equipment, children’s play areas, and seating spaces. As a result, people from different age groups, including children, adults, and senior citizens, regularly visit them in the morning and evening. These spaces have also encouraged more people to adopt healthier habits like walking, jogging, and yoga.
At present, work is moving quickly on two major projects—Pataliputra Park and Atal Park. Along with these, new parks are also being built in several parts of the city, including Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Danapur, and Phulwari Sharif. These parks are being designed to offer better facilities such as yoga areas, fountains, and improved play zones for children.
The city government also plans to build 37 new parks in the next four years. These parks will have different themes, such as herbal gardens, flower gardens, and children-focused areas. They will also include modern features like better lighting, rainwater harvesting systems, and waste management facilities to keep them clean and sustainable.
Officials say the main aim of this plan is to make the city greener and healthier. According to Piyush Kumar Baranwal, Divisional Forest and Park Officer, the goal is to encourage people to live in a cleaner environment and adopt healthier lifestyles through better urban planning.
