Patna: Preparations for the formation of a new government in Bihar have intensified, with Narendra Modi expected to visit Patna on April 14 amid mounting political activity in the state.
A series of high-level meetings is under way in the state capital to finalise arrangements for a possible swearing-in ceremony, which is widely expected to take place on April 15. Officials are also drawing up a detailed schedule for the prime minister’s visit, with speculation that he may stay overnight in Patna before attending the ceremony and returning to Delhi.
Uncertainty, however, continues over the chief ministerial face. Reports suggest that Nitish Kumar could tender his resignation on April 14, paving the way for the formation of a new government the following day. Neither development has been officially confirmed.
Administrative preparations have gathered pace. On Monday, Patna district magistrate Thiyagarajan S.M. visited Raj Bhavan to brief the governor on security and logistical arrangements. Authorities are putting in place extensive measures to manage VVIP movement, including security cordons, designated parking zones and route planning across key areas of the city.
Emergency services have been placed on standby. Medical teams and ambulances will be stationed at the venue, while fire brigade and disaster management units have been directed to remain on alert. A special traffic plan is also being prepared to minimise disruption to the public, with route diversions on major roads expected to be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, legislators from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have been instructed to remain in Patna on April 14 and 15, fuelling further speculation about an imminent government formation.
With political developments unfolding rapidly, attention now turns to whether the anticipated sequence of resignation and swearing-in will materialise as expected.
