Patna: In a significant boost to citizen services in Bihar, the Ministry of External Affairs has inaugurated a new Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in Ram Nagar of West Champaran district, extending passport facilities to remote parts of the state.
The newly opened centre, located in the Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha constituency, is aimed at making passport-related services more accessible for residents of far-flung areas who earlier had to travel long distances.
The POPSK, functioning under the Regional Passport Office in Patna, will provide services including fresh passport applications, renewals and police clearance certificates (PCC). Officials said the centre will offer 45 passport appointment slots and five PCC slots daily, with applications to be submitted online via the official passport portal.
The facility was inaugurated by Valmiki Nagar MP Sunil Kumar in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, including Sripriya Ranganathan, along with state representatives and postal authorities.
The POPSK initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Posts, aimed at strengthening service delivery through post office networks. With this addition, Bihar now has 40 passport service centres, ensuring coverage across all its parliamentary constituencies.
Officials said the move will particularly benefit people living in rural and border regions of the state, reinforcing the government’s focus on last-mile connectivity and citizen-centric governance.
