Patna: Railway authorities have extended the ongoing “mega block” at Gaya Junction until May 16, with several train services diverted or partially rescheduled as work continues on Line No. 1 at Platform No. 1.
Officials said the extension was necessary to complete infrastructure upgrades within the stipulated timeframe, with strict instructions issued to ensure no further delays.
Trains Diverted, Gaya Halt Suspended
Due to the block, multiple trains passing through Gaya Junction will operate on diverted routes and will not halt at the station during this period.
Train No. 18625/18626 (Purnia Court–Hatia Kosi Super Express) will now run via Bakhtiyarpur Link Cabin, Rajgir, Tilaiya Junction and Bandhua, bypassing Gaya entirely.
Similarly, Train No. 13329/13330 (Dhanbad–Patna Ganga-Damodar Express) will be rerouted via Jatdumri, Islampur, Tilaiya and Bandhua, and will also skip Gaya Junction until May 16.
Operations Shifted To Alternate Stations
Railway officials said some services originating from Gaya will temporarily operate from Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction.
This includes partial changes to services such as the Gaya–Anand Vihar Weekly Express, Garib Rath and Ekatmata Express, with some trains originating and terminating at DDU during the block period.
Work Deadline Fixed
The directive to complete the work by May 16 has been issued by Divisional Railway Manager Uday Singh Meena of the DDU division, officials said.
Authorities said the measures have been taken to ensure passenger safety while allowing uninterrupted progress on the infrastructure work.
Advisory For Passengers
Railways have advised passengers to check train schedules and route details before travel, as the temporary changes will remain in effect only during the mega block.
Normal operations are expected to resume once the work is completed on May 16, officials added.
