Patna: Preparations for a cabinet expansion in Bihar have gathered pace, with work under way at Gandhi Maidan for the swearing-in ceremony of new ministers.
Officials said the oath-taking event is likely to take place on May 6, though a formal announcement is yet to be made.
Stage Preparations Begin
Labourers have begun setting up infrastructure at Gandhi Maidan, with bamboo structures and scaffolding being installed for the ceremony stage. Authorities said a large workforce has been deployed to complete preparations in time.
The venue, a key political landmark in Patna, is expected to host the induction of ministers in what is being referred to as the “Samrat cabinet”.
CM Returns From Delhi After Key Meetings
Chief minister Samrat Choudhary is scheduled to return to Patna after a visit to New Delhi, where he held meetings with senior leaders including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh.
Sources indicated that the chief minister is likely to have finalised the list of ministers during these consultations.
Focus On Balance And Representation
Political observers said the expansion is expected to focus on caste balance, experience and the inclusion of new faces. The cabinet is likely to feature a mix of senior leaders and younger entrants, with attention also being paid to women’s representation.
A cabinet meeting has also been scheduled for the evening of May 6, which could serve as the first formal meeting of the expanded council of ministers.
Awaiting Official Confirmation
While preparations are visibly under way, officials said a formal announcement regarding the expansion and swearing-in ceremony is expected after the chief minister’s return.
The development comes amid heightened political activity in the state, with the upcoming cabinet reshuffle seen as a key moment in shaping the government’s direction.
