Patna: Government school teachers across the state will be imparted five-day capacity-building training in a bid to strengthen teaching standards and improve learning outcomes.
Teachers selected for the training programme will be required to attend or face salary deductions and possible disciplinary action, according to new directives issued by the education department.
The move makes compulsory participation in training sessions scheduled to begin next week, as part of efforts to implement the National Education Policy (NEP). Officials said that absence from training without valid reason would result in deduction of salary for the day, alongside potential disciplinary measures.
Instructions have been sent to district education officers to ensure compliance of the order, while also maintaining continuity in classroom teaching. Authorities have been advised to limit the number of teachers called from any one school so that regular academic activities are not disrupted.
According to the department, in-service training aimed at enhancing teachers’ professional capacity, is a mandatory annual requirement under the NEP framework. The initiative is intended to strengthen teaching standards and improve learning outcomes across schools.
Approximately 3.5 lakh teachers are expected to undergo training this year, with the remaining educators to be covered in the following year. The training modules have been developed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Sessions will be conducted through District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), with schedules determined at the district level. Trainers will include DIET lecturers, subject experts, and specialist teams from organisations such as the Central Square Foundation and the Language and Learning Foundation.
