Gayaji: Residents and visitors in Bodh Gaya are set to face significant travel disruptions on May 5 as the district administration enforces a special traffic plan for the visit of To Lam. The measures are being put in place to ensure security and maintain order during the high-profile visit to the globally significant Buddhist pilgrimage town.
According to officials, several major roads will remain completely closed to vehicles between 10am and 3pm. The restricted route includes the stretch from the airport’s Gate No. 05 to the Mahabodhi Temple, passing through key points such as Tekuna Farm, Domuhan and Node-01. In addition, traffic will also be banned on the road connecting Node-01 to the Karmapa Temple. During this period, no vehicles will be allowed on these routes under any circumstances.
To reduce inconvenience, the administration has identified alternative routes for public use. Vehicles will be allowed to move normally via the Sherghati–Cherki–Guleriachak–Sikariya Mor route, and commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance. Officials have urged people to avoid the restricted areas during the specified hours to prevent delays and congestion.
Meanwhile, security preparations have been stepped up across the town. Police teams have conducted mock drills and rehearsals to ensure everything runs smoothly during the visit. Senior officer Kota Kiran Kumar reviewed the arrangements and instructed personnel to remain alert and act swiftly if needed. Authorities said all efforts are being made to ensure both security and minimal disruption, while appealing to the public for cooperation.
