Thiruvananthapuram/Patna: Results for assembly elections across five states — West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry — were declared on Monday, with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) registering a win in Kerala.
Victory In Kuthuparamba
RJD candidate P.K. Praveen won the Kuthuparamba assembly constituency, defeating Jayanthi Rajan of the Indian Union Muslim League by a margin of 1,286 votes.
According to official figures, Praveen secured 70,448 votes, while Rajan received 69,162 votes after 17 rounds of counting.
Setbacks In Other Constituencies
The party, however, faced defeats in other constituencies in Kerala. In Kalpetta, RJD candidate P.K. Anil Kumar lost to T. Siddique of the Indian National Congress by a margin of 45,031 votes.
In Vadakara, RJD candidate M.K. Bhaskaran was defeated by K. K. Rema of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India.
Campaign Efforts
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, executive president of the RJD, had campaigned in Kerala during the elections. He addressed rallies in Kuthuparamba and other constituencies, seeking support for party candidates.
