Rajgir/Patna: South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) has begun extensive preparations to ensure uninterrupted and safe electricity supply during Rajgir Malmas Mela 2026, with officials prioritising electrical safety measures across the mela area.
On Saturday, SBPDCL’s managing director Rahul Kumar visited the mela site in Rajgir to review arrangements and assess ongoing infrastructure work.
Focus On Electrical Safety
During the inspection, the managing director directed officials to ensure barricading of all transformers, application of dielectric paint on iron poles and inspection of additional streetlight connections installed for the event.
He also ordered electrical safety audits of tents being erected for pilgrims and visitors.
Officials said a 24-hour control room would remain operational throughout the mela period, while additional manpower would be deployed wherever required.

Safety Measures For Devotees And Vendors
SBPDCL has instructed that only new and standard-quality electrical wiring be used inside temporary tents and structures.
Electrical safety guidelines will also be distributed among vendors operating within the mela premises.
For emergency assistance, reflective stickers displaying consumer helpline numbers have been installed on electricity poles across the mela area.
Authorities said public announcement systems would additionally be used to prevent rumours and communicate safety information during the fair.
All field personnel have been instructed to wear reflective safety vests, while engineers will use reflective jackets for easier identification amid large crowds.

‘Top Priority Is Uninterrupted Supply’
Rahul Kumar said ensuring safe, quality and uninterrupted electricity supply for devotees and tourists remained the company’s top priority.
He said all officers and employees had been directed to remain alert and vigilant throughout the mela period to ensure any emergency situation could be addressed immediately.
Among officials present during the inspection were Shubham Kumar, Kumar Nishant Vivek, Manish Kant and Bipin Kumar.
