Patna: The Department of Neurology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna organised an online academic conference on Friday titled “A Neurology Initiative: Biostatistics for Clinical Practice and Research”, bringing together clinicians, researchers, academicians and students from medical institutions across the country.
The conference was held under the patronage of the institute’s executive director and chief executive, Prof (Brig) Dr Raju Agarwal, and under the guidance of Dean Academics Prof Dr Punam Prasad Bhadani.
Focus on evidence-based healthcare
The programme was chaired by Dr Anand Kumar Rai, while Dr Pratibha Prasad coordinated the event.
Expert sessions were delivered by Dr Narendra Kumar Tiwary of RG Kar Medical College and Dr Rakesh Kumar Saroj of Jawaharlal Nehru University. The speakers discussed the role of biostatistics, epidemiology, research methodology and data analysis in strengthening evidence-based clinical practice and healthcare research.
The sessions focused on study design, sample size calculation, regression analysis and the use of statistical software in medical research.
Interactive sessions for participants
The experts emphasised that appropriate statistical methods are essential for improving the quality and reliability of clinical studies and research publications.
The conference also included interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions, enabling participants to gain practical insights into research planning and scientific data interpretation
