Patna: Patna witnessed emotional scenes on Tuesday as senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former minister Bagi Kumar Verma was brought to the party headquarters for his final tributes. A large number of party workers, supporters, and senior leaders gathered to pay their last respects, turning the premises into a place of mourning.
RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav led the tributes by placing the party flag over Verma’s mortal remains and offering a garland. A minute of silence was also observed. Several senior leaders, including State President Mangani Lal Mandal, were present and described Verma as a committed worker who remained closely connected with the party’s grassroots base throughout his political journey.
The party’s top leadership also expressed deep sorrow. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, former chief minister Rabri Devi, and MP Misa Bharti sent messages of condolence, calling his death a major loss for the party and the socialist movement in Bihar. Party spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad confirmed that the party flag had been flown at half-mast in his honour.
Later, the final rites were performed at Bans Ghat in Patna, where party leaders and workers joined the funeral procession. Tejashwi Yadav also met the bereaved family and assured them that the RJD family stands with them in this difficult time. Leaders said Verma’s passing leaves a deep void in the organisation and will be remembered for years.
