Gaya: Newly appointed Inspector General (Magadh Range) Vikas Vaibhav on Tuesday held a “Police–Public Dialogue” in Gaya, just two days after taking charge, in an early move aimed at strengthening communication between the police and citizens.
The programme, organised by the Gaya chapter of Let’s Inspire Bihar at the Red Cross Hall, saw a large turnout of residents who raised a range of grievances related to policing and public services. Officials present recorded the complaints, while the IG assured timely action and issued directions to concerned officers for prompt resolution.
Vaibhav said similar dialogue sessions would now be held every month to improve trust and coordination between the police and the public. He also announced plans to appoint nodal officers at every police station to ensure faster response to complaints, along with the establishment of a Police Assistance Centre at Gaya railway station in the near future.
Reiterating a strict stance on crime, the IG said action against criminals would be intensified and stressed that citizens should not face unnecessary hardship at police stations. He instructed police personnel to handle public complaints with speed and sensitivity.
Participants at the event welcomed the initiative, calling it a positive step towards improving accountability and rebuilding public confidence in the police administration.
