Patna: The CBSE Class 12 results, declared on Wednesday, show a decline in overall performance in the Patna zone even as female students continued to significantly outperform their male counterparts.
The region recorded an overall pass percentage of 74.45%, marking a notable fall from 82.86% last year and 83.59% in 2024. The downward trend continues a broader slide from 85.47% in 2023 and 91.20% in 2022, making this year’s outcome one of the weakest in recent cycles.
A total of 89,265 students had registered for the examination in the Patna zone, of whom 87,374 appeared. Among them were 49,632 boys and 29,380 girls.
Female students once again emerged as clear frontrunners. While 81.13% of girls passed the examination, the corresponding figure for boys stood at 70.50%. In absolute numbers, 23,835 female students and 34,989 male students cleared the exam.
The gender gap in performance stands out as one of the most consistent patterns in this year’s results, with girls outperforming boys by 6.73 percentage points in the Patna region.
Education officials have not yet issued a detailed explanation for the overall decline, though the results reflect a broader volatility in pass percentages across recent years in the region.
