Gaya: Construction work on a long-awaited bridge over the Niranjana river in Mohanpur block of Gaya district has gathered pace, according to local officials and public representatives.
The bridge, being built between Ladu and Kosla villages, is expected to improve connectivity between Mohanpur and the international tourist destination of Bodh Gaya. Residents say the project could significantly ease travel for students, farmers, patients and daily commuters.
MLA inspects construction site
Barachatti MLA Jyoti Devi visited the construction site on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of the project.
During the inspection, she directed officials and contractors to ensure quality standards and complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.
Speaking at the site, the MLA said the bridge would not only connect two villages but also contribute to the broader development of the region.
Reduced distance to Bodh Gaya
According to Jyoti Devi, the bridge will reduce the distance between Sulebatta in Barachatti block along National Highway-19 and Bodh Gaya to nearly 25 kilometres.
The project is also expected to establish direct connectivity between Mohanpur block and Bodh Gaya, making travel easier and safer for residents.
Relief during monsoon season
Local residents have long faced difficulties crossing the river during the rainy season. The bridge is expected to provide year-round connectivity and reduce disruptions caused by flooding and waterlogging.
The MLA said the improved route would particularly benefit students, farmers, patients and people travelling for work and essential services.
Economic opportunities expected
Jyoti Devi said better road connectivity could also create new employment and business opportunities for young people in nearby villages.
She added that improved infrastructure would contribute to the region’s economic and social development and make access to Patna more convenient for residents of Mohanpur block.
