Gopalganj/Patna: A seven-year-old boy was found dead inside a parked car near his home in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, police said on Friday, as investigators sought to determine the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
The incident took place in Bhatwalia village under the jurisdiction of Mirganj Police Station and has left the local community in shock.
Police officials said the child’s body was discovered inside a car that had reportedly been parked close to the family’s residence for several months.
Child Had Been Missing Since Wednesday Evening
According to family members, the boy — identified as Anuj — had left home to play on the evening of May 20 after returning from the village Anganwadi centre.
When he failed to return home late into the night, relatives began searching for him in nearby areas and neighbouring villages.
After unsuccessful attempts to locate him, the family filed a missing complaint at the Mirganj police station.
Police said the child was later found dead inside the parked vehicle while the search operation and investigation were still underway.
Police And Forensic Teams Begin Investigation
Following the discovery, police personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the vehicle.
An FSL team was also deployed to collect evidence from the scene using forensic methods.
Officials said investigators were examining all possible angles, including:
- Accidental suffocation
- Negligence
- Possibility of foul play
Police added that the exact cause of death would become clear only after the post-mortem examination report is received.
Family Left Devastated
The child’s death has devastated his family and triggered mourning in the village.
Anuj was reportedly the middle child among three brothers:
- Elder brother — Atul Kumar
- Younger brother — Ankush Kumar
His father, Guddu Yadav, works in Punjab and was said to be returning home after receiving news of the incident.
Questions Remain Over How Child Entered Vehicle
The case has raised several unanswered questions among villagers and investigators alike.
Police are attempting to establish:
- How the child entered the vehicle
- Whether he became trapped inside
- Whether the death was accidental or intentional
- If foul play was involved, what the motive may have been
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and no conclusion regarding the cause of death has yet been reached.
