Patna: An inter-divisional meeting was held at Bihar Police Headquarters under the chairmanship of Alok Raj, Director General of Police, Bihar. The meeting, conducted via video conferencing, involved senior police officers from all districts, where key issues concerning law and order and crime control were discussed. The discussion also included preparations for the upcoming festivals.
Addressing the meeting, the Director General emphasized the importance of focusing on five points for crime prevention and control: Prevention, Prediction, Detection, Prosecution, and perception. He stressed that preventing crimes is the priority, but immediate detection and legal prosecution are necessary when incidents occur. Changing public perception about the declining crime rate was also highlighted.
A zero-tolerance policy on communal violence and strict actions against serious crimes such as robbery, dacoity, extortion, and kidnapping were discussed. The Director General called for firm action against bikers’ gangs, celebratory firing, and the misuse of weapons to ensure public safety. Further emphasis was placed on curbing organized crimes such as cybercrime and mafia activities.
During the meeting, the Director General reiterated the “6 S” mantra for police action, focusing on timely response, meaningful actions, sensitivity, power, integrity, and the importance of a speedy trial to punish criminals. Officers were instructed to take preventive measures, particularly during the festive season, and to prioritize public complaints with regular meetings between senior police officers and citizens.
The meeting also included participation from additional director generals of police across various departments, who discussed the pending issues at the district level and the need for the timely appointment of eligible officers to executive positions. The Director General also reviewed the work of each division and directed officers to be prepared for a detailed field visit.
