Patna:The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday approved an increase in the annual income eligibility limit for the Chief Minister’s Health Assistance Fund (Mukhya Mantri Chikitsa Sahayta Kosh) from RS. 2.5 lakh to Rs. Four lakh, expanding access to financial support for patients requiring medical treatment.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and was announced by Additional Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat Department, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, during a post-cabinet briefing in Patna.
Wider access to medical assistance
Under the revised criteria, more families will be eligible to seek financial assistance through the state-run health support scheme.
Officials said there is no fixed cap on the number of beneficiaries under the programme, and assistance will continue to be provided based on individual requirements.
In regular cases, beneficiaries can receive financial support of up to Rs. Five lakh through the fund.
Aquaculture park approved in Bhojpur
The cabinet also approved the establishment of an Integrated Aquaculture Park at the Banasur Fish Seed Farm in Bhojpur district under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
The project has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 31.20 crore, including Rs. 18.72 crore from the Centre and Rs. 12.48 crore from the state government.
According to officials, the project aims to improve fish production, enhance productivity and develop modern fisheries infrastructure. It is also expected to generate employment opportunities and support the rural economy.
Investment cleared for foodgrain storage facility
The cabinet approved a private investment proposal worth Rs. 83.25 crore by Leap Agri Logistics (Madhubani) Pvt Ltd.
The company plans to establish a 50,000-metric-tonne grain storage silo near Rajnagar Railway Station in Madhubani district. The project is expected to create both direct and indirect employment for 109 people.
Incentives approved for beverage manufacturing unit
The state government also approved financial incentives for Varun Beverages Ltd for its proposed manufacturing facility at Navanagar in Buxar district.
The company plans to invest ₹483.51 crore in the project, which will manufacture carbonated soft drinks, juice-based beverages, packaged drinking water, beverage syrups and include a 3 MW solar power generation unit.
Officials said the facility is expected to create direct employment for around 400 skilled and unskilled workers once operational.
Land transferred for dairy project
In another decision, the cabinet approved the transfer of seven acres of land at Mauja Dadar under Mohania Circle in Kaimur district to the Department of Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resources.
The land has been transferred free of cost through an inter-departmental arrangement and will be used for the development of a dairy and milk production facility.
Thirteen decisions approved
The cabinet approved a total of 13 proposals during the meeting, covering healthcare, fisheries, industrial investment, food infrastructure and rural development initiatives.
