Patna : The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner on Tuesday conducted a field inspection of wards 7, 8, 20 and 22 in the Patliputra zone along with elected representatives and ward representatives.

The inspection focused on monsoon preparedness, drainage infrastructure, street lighting and sanitation, with officials directed to address pending issues before the onset of heavy rainfall.

Drainage and waterlogging concerns examined

During the visit, the commissioner inspected the Rajbanshi Nagar and Punaichak drainage pumping stations and directed officials to assess the levels of drains in the area.

At a drain near A.N. College, officials reported that despite regular cleaning, the flow of water was being obstructed by waste dumped by unidentified persons. To address the issue, the commissioner instructed officials to cover the drain with iron grilles.

At Mohanpur drain, civic authorities were directed to immediately remove accumulated waste near a culvert to ensure smooth water flow.

Directions issued on sanitation and unused vehicles

The commissioner also inspected a municipal yard near a water tank and ordered the removal of abandoned vehicles lying there for an extended period.

Officials were directed to clean the premises and undertake boundary work to improve the condition of the site.

Street lighting under review

The functioning of street lights was reviewed during the inspection. The commissioner sought feedback from local representatives and instructed the Executive Engineer (Electrical) to personally inspect street lights during evening hours.

Officials were directed to ensure that all installed street lights remain operational.

Water supply projects progress reviewed

PMC officials reported that a pipeline-laying project in Kautilya Nagar under Ward 8, stretching from AG Colony Main Road to the Quality Centre area, had been completed ahead of schedule. The project had been targeted for completion by June 24.

Two additional pipeline projects in Jamuna Nagar and around V.N. Thakur Chowk are expected to begin shortly.

In Ward 22, officials said pipeline projects along Anugrah Narayan Road, Mainpura and Rajapur Gate numbers 31 to 41 have been completed.

Meanwhile, a pipeline project on Road No. 3A in Mahesh Nagar under Ward 7 is around 90% complete. Another pipeline project on Road No. 4 is planned and will begin after road restoration work and alternative traffic arrangements are completed.

Road restoration works discussed

The inspection also reviewed road restoration projects linked to civic infrastructure works.

Officials informed the commissioner that restoration works on Shriram Path, Panchvati Gali, Vishambhar Dhari Road and the Capital Gas Godown Road in Ward 20 have been completed.

Road restoration projects from RD Tower to Kanti Singh Marg and on Post Office Road are expected to begin soon.

In Ward 22, restoration works from Shivalik Apartment to Panchvati and from Royal Executive Guest House to House No. 285 in Patliputra Colony have been completed. Restoration work on Ramkrishna Path is currently under way.

Public representatives present

Ward 22 councillor Anita Devi, along with representatives of wards 7 and 8, participated in the inspection and reviewed local civic issues with municipal officials.
