Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh highlights fashion opportunities during NIFT Patna visit

Patna: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Patna welcomed Union Minister for Textiles, Giriraj Singh, and Bihar’s Minister of Industries and Tourism, Nitish Mishra, on Sunday. The visit began with the inauguration of the national flag and a tree plantation drive as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental awareness.

State industries minister Nitish Mishra, in his address, reiterated his commitment to supporting NIFT Patna’s future projects, especially in tourism-related areas. He encouraged students to focus on excellence rather than mere success, and hinted at future plans for establishing a dyeing and processing unit.

Union minister Giriraj Singh underscored the importance of the Vision Next initiative, which seeks to promote Indian size fits for fashion forecasting based on local data. He also drew attention to Bihar’s $3 billion non-branded clothing market, urging students to seize opportunities in this sector. During his interaction, Singh discussed innovations like carbon fibre in fashion and assured the audience that NIFT Patna would soon have its own auditorium.

In addition to these announcements, health cards were distributed to NIFT Patna staff, ensuring their access to essential healthcare services. NIFT Patna Director, Col. Rahul Sharma, expressed gratitude to both dignitaries for their insightful speeches and ongoing support for the institute.
