Patna: In a first for Bihar, the state organised the ‘Shaurya Samvad’ programme in Hajipur to honour ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and the families of martyrs while strengthening communication and welfare support for the veteran community.
Held at Bika Auditorium, the event was jointly organised by the Bihar Regimental Centre, Bihar Regiment Records Office Danapur, the District Sainik Welfare Office and Headquarters J&B Sub Area. More than 300 ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their family members participated in the programme.
Lamp Lighting Marks Formal Inauguration
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by MLA Avdhesh Singh, Director of the Bihar Directorate of Sainik Welfare Brigadier Mrigendra Kumar, Chief Record Officer Lieutenant Colonel S. Mohanty, Deputy Commandant Colonel Vijay Kumar, District Sainik Welfare Officer Colonel S.K. Tripathi (Retd.), Major Sarvesh Kumar Tripathi and the Sub-Divisional Officer.
31 Elderly Veterans, Veer Naris Receive Annual Rs 24,000 Grant
The highlight of the event was the presentation of an annual ex-gratia grant of Rs 24,000 to 31 ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and widows of martyrs aged above 80 years.
Officials said the initiative, introduced for the first time in Bihar, is aimed at recognising the lifelong service and sacrifices of veterans while extending financial assistance to them and their families.
Grievances Addressed Through On-the-Spot Assistance
The Bihar Regiment Records Office also conducted a grievance redressal session during the programme.
Officials heard applications and concerns raised by ex-servicemen and Veer Naris, with several cases being resolved immediately, providing prompt relief to the beneficiaries.
Patriotic Band Performance Captivates Audience
A performance by the Bihar Regiment Band emerged as one of the major attractions of the event.
The patriotic musical presentation filled the auditorium with a sense of national pride and respect for the armed forces. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
‘Nation Will Always Honour Soldiers’ Sacrifice’
Addressing the gathering, MLA Avdhesh Singh said the contribution of soldiers and ex-servicemen in safeguarding India’s security, unity and sovereignty is invaluable.
He said the nation would always honour their courage, sacrifice and dedication, adding that the government remains committed to ensuring their welfare and resolving issues faced by the veteran community.
Programme Conceptualised by Bihar Regimental Centre
The event was conceptualised by Brigadier R.K. Bora, Commandant of the Bihar Regimental Centre.
Major S.K. Tripathi, Major Prashant Bhardwaj, Captain Amit Rana, District Ex-Servicemen Association General Secretary Suman Kumar and Organisation Secretary Rajkumar played key roles in coordinating the successful conduct of the programme.
