Patna: The investigation into the NEET re-examination controversy in Bihar has intensified after the state’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate three FIRs registered in Lakhisarai district.
The 12-member SIT will be headed by a DIG-rank officer and will investigate cases registered at Kiul and Kavaiya police stations. According to the EOU, the team includes one Superintendent of Police (SP), five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and five inspectors.
SIT Reviews FIRs and Earlier Investigation
After taking charge of the investigation, the SIT reviewed the FIRs filed in Lakhisarai along with the action taken by local police so far. Officials examined the available records and outlined the next course of the investigation.
The team will assess the role of individuals connected with the NEET re-examination case and examine whether any irregularities, malpractice or organised conspiracy influenced the examination process.
Investigation to Examine All Aspects
According to the EOU, the SIT has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive investigation into the case. It will analyse evidence, establish links between suspects, reconstruct the sequence of events and verify other relevant facts.
Officials said the formation of the specialised team is expected to improve coordination, strengthen monitoring and speed up the investigation.
National Attention on NEET-Related Cases
The NEET examination has remained under scrutiny across the country over allegations related to examination irregularities. In Bihar, investigating agencies have been examining complaints linked to the examination process and associated cases.
The EOU said the identities of all those involved and the complete sequence of events will become clear only after the investigation is concluded. The SIT has begun collecting information from concerned officials and is continuing its probe.
