Patna: The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) is preparing to introduce a luxury caravan-based sightseeing package aimed at offering visitors a new way to explore Patna’s historical and cultural landmarks.
The proposed Patna Darshan package will allow tourists to travel across the city in an air-conditioned luxury caravan from 8 am to 8 pm. The itinerary will also include an optional speed boat ride on the Ganges at an additional cost.
Tour To Cover Major Attractions
According to the Tourism Corporation, the package will include visits to several of Patna’s prominent tourist sites, including Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, Bihar Museum, Bapu Tower, Golghar and Sabhyata Dwar.
Visitors will also have the option to stop at Digha Ghat via JP Ganga Path and take a speed boat ride on the Ganges for an additional charge.
Luxury Caravan To Accommodate 12 Passengers
Each caravan bus will have a seating capacity of 12 passengers.
Officials said bookings will initially be accepted offline through the Bihar Tourism Corporation office on Daroga Rai Path. The Corporation will provide the vehicle, driver, helper and fuel. Tourists opting for a trained guide will be required to pay an additional fee of Rs 1,500.
Hotel-Like Amenities On Board
The caravans have been designed to provide facilities typically associated with premium accommodation.
Each fully air-conditioned vehicle is equipped with six CCTV cameras, automatic entry steps, four motorised recliner seats, a three-seater sofa and four sleeper berths. Recliner seats include charging points, snack tables and motorised curtains, while some seats can rotate 360 degrees.
For entertainment, the main cabin features a 43-inch smart television, and each sleeper berth has an individual screen. The vehicles also include overhead luggage storage, under-seat compartments and an emergency exit.
Kitchen, Sleeping Area And Bathroom
The caravans include a compact kitchen equipped with an induction cooktop, refrigerator, microwave oven, water cooler and washbasin, allowing passengers to prepare meals during their journey.
The sleeper section accommodates four people and features orthopaedic mattresses, reading lamps, charging sockets, air vents and privacy curtains. The attached bathroom includes a marine toilet, shower, washbasin and hot and cold water facilities, along with a separate dressing area.
Two Caravans Purchased
The Bihar Tourism Development Corporation has purchased two luxury caravans at a cost of approximately Rs 2.18 crore.
Officials said both vehicles have All India Permits and can also be hired for travel beyond Patna to destinations across Bihar and other parts of the country.
A minimum booking distance of 250 km has been prescribed, with the hire charge fixed at Rs 75 per kilometre, excluding 5% GST.
Service Awaiting Final Approval
According to the Tourism Department, the Patna Darshan package has been submitted for final approval, including fare notification.
Once approved, the service will be opened to the public. Officials said the initiative is intended to diversify Bihar’s tourism offerings and encourage greater domestic and international tourist footfall.
