Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) on Thursday conducted simultaneous searches at five locations in Patna, Munger and Siwan as part of an investigation into alleged disproportionate assets linked to Ankesh Kumar Gond, an Excise Inspector posted in Siwan.
According to the EOU, the searches followed the registration of a case after a preliminary verification found prima facie evidence that the officer had accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income.
Case Registered Under Prevention Of Corruption Act
The EOU said it registered Case No. 13/26 on July 8, 2026, under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
Officials said the case was registered after information received from reliable sources was verified and found to warrant further investigation.
Simultaneous Searches At Five Premises
Following the issuance of search warrants by the Special Court (Vigilance), Patna, EOU teams led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-rank officers carried out raids at five premises linked to the accused.
The locations searched included a residence in Sultanpur under the Danapur police station area in Patna, an ancestral house in Chandanbag under the Kasim Bazar police station area in Munger, a commercial building at Lallupokhar in Munger, the Excise Department office in Siwan town, and a rented residence behind the Chitragupt Nagar Registry Office under the Siwan Town police station area.
EOU Alleges Assets Exceeding Known Income
According to the EOU, the preliminary inquiry found that Gond had allegedly accumulated assets worth about Rs 2.36 crore in excess of his known sources of income.
The agency claimed the alleged disproportionate assets were approximately 201.97% higher than his legitimate income, based on the findings of the initial verification.
Investigation Underway
The EOU said the searches form part of its ongoing investigation into the case. Officials added that further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the raids and the outcome of the investigation.
