IIM Bodh Gaya Signs MoU with the Planning & Development Department of Bihar for Training of Officials
Bodh Gaya: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Planning and Development Department of Bihar to provide training in management, leadership, and skill development for the department’s officials. Under the terms of the agreement, officials from the department will undergo training in phases, with each batch participating in a six-day residential program at the IIM Bodh Gaya campus.
Senthil Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, highlighted the importance of the MoU in modernising the skills of government officials. He stated that the training would help enhance their capabilities, improve workplace culture, streamline office management, and ultimately boost revenue generation. During his visit to the institute, Kumar also reviewed the campus and its training facilities.
Dr. Vinita Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, said that the training programme would focus on key areas of management, leadership, and skills development, aiming to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of officials in fulfilling their duties.
The Planning and Development Department plays a crucial role in formulating, implementing, and overseeing policies in Bihar. Over the years, the department’s remit has expanded to accommodate the state’s evolving development needs. It includes key units such as the Bihar State Planning Board, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Directorate of Evaluation, Local Area Engineering Organisation, and the Bihar Statistical System Development Agency, among others.
This collaboration between IIM Bodh Gaya and the Bihar government represents a significant step toward enhancing the skills of public officials and improving governance in the state. In addition to this partnership, IIM Bodh Gaya has been involved in providing leadership and management training to various other government departments, including the Water Resource Department, State Health Society, Bihar Police Academy, and the Department of Industries.
