Patna: East Central Railway has extended the operational period of 11 pairs of special trains connecting Bihar with Delhi, Pune, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh in response to sustained passenger demand.
The decision is aimed at easing congestion on regular trains during the Sawan season, the post-holiday return rush and other periods of high passenger movement. Railway officials said the extension is expected to improve the availability of confirmed tickets for travellers.
Pune–Danapur Special Extended
The 01449/01450 Pune–Danapur–Pune Special will continue to operate until September 28 and September 30, 2026, respectively.
The service caters to one of the busiest rail corridors linking Maharashtra and Bihar, where passenger demand remains consistently high.
Delhi-Bound Special Trains Continue
East Central Railway has also extended the operation of the Barauni–New Delhi Clone Special and the Darbhanga–New Delhi Clone Special.
According to the railway zone, the Barauni service will continue until the end of July, while the Darbhanga service will operate into early August, providing additional capacity for passengers travelling to the national capital.
Relief for Anand Vihar Passengers
The operational period of several special trains connecting Danapur, Sheikhpura, Muzaffarpur, Purnia Court and Saharsa with Anand Vihar has also been extended.
The move is expected to benefit commuters travelling to the Delhi-NCR region for employment, education and business.
Gujarat Services Also Extended
Special trains operating between Udhna and Madhubani, as well as Udhna and Jhanjharpur, will continue to run as per the revised schedule.
These services are expected to support migrant workers travelling between Bihar and Gujarat, along with other passengers using the route.
Decision Aimed at Reducing Congestion
Railway officials said the extension was approved after assessing increased passenger demand during the Sawan season, the return rush following holidays and regular travel patterns.
By continuing these special services, the Railways aims to reduce overcrowding on regular trains and improve passengers’ chances of obtaining confirmed reservations.
Passengers Advised to Check Latest Updates
East Central Railway has advised passengers to verify train schedules and operational updates through official railway channels before travelling.
The advisory is intended to help passengers avoid inconvenience in the event of timetable changes or other operational updates.
