Patna: The southwest monsoon remains active across Bihar, with widespread rainfall recorded over the past 24 hours and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of another spell of heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning on Sunday, July 12.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, heavy rainfall was recorded at several places in central and eastern Bihar during the last 24 hours, while light to moderate rain occurred across most parts of the state, bringing relief from humid weather.
Orange Alert For Four Districts
The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Araria, Kishanganj, Madhubani and Supaul, where thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely.
Heavy rainfall has also been forecast for Darbhanga, Katihar, Madhepura, Purnia, Saharsa and Sitamarhi.
Rain Likely Across North Bihar
The Patna meteorological centre has predicted rainfall at many places across West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Samastipur and Madhubani.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also expected during this period.
The IMD has advised residents to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and seek shelter in safe buildings whenever lightning activity occurs.

Light To Moderate Rain Expected In Patna
For south-western and south-central Bihar, the department has forecast light to moderate rainfall under generally cloudy skies.
Patna and neighbouring districts—including Nalanda, Jehanabad, Nawada, Gaya, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Rohtas, Kaimur (Bhabua), Bhojpur, Buxar, Arwal and Aurangabad—are likely to receive intermittent showers during the day.
Monsoon Remains Active
Meteorologists said the active monsoon conditions are expected to persist, sustaining rainfall across large parts of the state.
The IMD has urged people to monitor official weather updates and exercise caution while travelling during periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning.
