Patna Women’s College Marks World Population Day With Human Chain Awareness Drive

Around 150 students, faculty members and ECO Task Force volunteers joined the campus initiative to promote population awareness and sustainable development on World Population Day.

Patna: Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), under Patna University, observed World Population Day on July 11 by organising a human chain on its campus to raise awareness about population-related issues and sustainable development.

The programme was organised by the ECO Task Force in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, aligning with the 2026 World Population Day theme, “Empowering Young People to Create the Families They Want in a Fair and Hopeful World.” The event focused on the role of young people in promoting informed decision-making, education and responsible citizenship.

Human Chain Draws Wide Participation

Around 150 participants, including members of the ECO Task Force, students, faculty members and staff of the Department of Zoology, took part in the human chain.

Patna Women's College Marks World Population Day With Human Chain Awareness Drive

The symbolic exercise highlighted the importance of population stabilisation, reproductive health awareness, gender equality and collective efforts towards achieving a sustainable future.

Focus on Youth Empowerment

The organisers said the programme aimed to encourage young people to play an active role in addressing population-related challenges through awareness and informed choices.

Students participated enthusiastically in the campaign, demonstrating their commitment to spreading awareness within the community and promoting responsible decision-making.

Programme Coordination

The event was coordinated by Sumeet Ranjan, Head of the Department of Zoology and Vice President of the ECO Task Force.

Faculty members of the Department of Zoology also participated in the programme and encouraged students to become ambassadors for population awareness and environmental sustainability.

Collective Pledge

The programme concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to continue promoting awareness on population issues, support informed choices and contribute towards building a sustainable and prosperous future.
