Man Murders Wife to Avoid Loan Repayment, Arrested Along with Accomplices in Samastipur

Elderly couple found dead in their Patna home, police investigate suspected domestic dispute

Samastipur: A man shot his wife dead in Chakamahesi, Samastipur, to avoid repaying a loan of 10 lakh rupees that she had taken from various aid groups. The accused, Sandeep Thakur, purchased a gun for 7,000 rupees to commit the crime and later fabricated a story, claiming that miscreants had killed her during a robbery attempt.

The victim, Anshu Kumari (28), was shot in the head by Sandeep following an argument. After the murder, Sandeep transported the body to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a toto, along with his brothers Raja and Mohan Thakur, in an attempt to cover up the crime. He told hospital staff that his wife had been shot by robbers.

Following an investigation, the police arrested Sandeep, his two brothers, and the toto driver, Sonu Kumar. Sandeep confessed to the crime, and based on his identification, the police recovered the murder weapon and cartridges from a pond near his house. He carried out the murder due to suspicions about his wife and to embezzle the loan amount.

All four have been taken into custody and will face further legal action.
