Samastipur: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bablu Kumar Prasad, 50, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the Mohiuddin Nagar police station in Bihar’s Samastipur district on Saturday morning. His body was discovered hanging inside an unoccupied room on the third floor of the police station.
Bablu Kumar Prasad was serving with the Dial-112 emergency response service. Police said the body has been taken into custody, and legal formalities have been initiated.
Senior Officers Reach the Spot
Following information about the incident, Patori Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Virendra Kumar Medhavi and Circle Inspector Pawan Kumar reached the police station along with a police team to inspect the scene.
Officials said an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Police are examining all possible angles, including the possibility of suicide.
Cause of Death Yet to Be Established
Police officials said the exact cause of death has not yet been determined. They added that further clarity will emerge after the investigation and other legal procedures are completed.
Authorities have not disclosed whether any suicide note or other evidence was recovered from the room.
Body Found in Unoccupied Room
According to police, the room on the third floor where the body was found was vacant. Fellow police personnel noticed the body on Saturday morning and informed senior officers.
Bablu Kumar Prasad had been posted with the Dial-112 unit at Mohiuddin Nagar police station for around two and a half years. He had recently been transferred to the Dial-112 unit in Kalyanpur within Samastipur district but had not yet joined his new posting.
Family Resides in West Champaran
Bablu Kumar Prasad was a native of Bagaha in West Champaran district. While his family lives there, he had been residing alone in Samastipur due to his official posting.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and the cause of death will be confirmed only after the inquiry and post-mortem examination are completed.
