Patna: AIIMS Patna has concluded a two-day in-house workshop on roster writing, reservation policies and recruitment rules, bringing together faculty members, doctors and administrative staff to improve their understanding of procedures governing appointments in public institutions.
The workshop, held on July 17 and 18 in collaboration with the National Institute for Professional Training and Development (NIPTD), focused on the implementation of reservation provisions for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). According to AIIMS Patna, the programme was intended to strengthen transparency, fairness and compliance with Government of India guidelines.
What the Workshop Covered
According to the institute, the training programme examined the legal and administrative framework governing reservation in government services. Sessions covered constitutional provisions on reservation, recruitment rules, appointment procedures, determination of reservation quotas, vacancy calculations and the preparation of post-based rosters.
Participants were also trained on reservation in promotions, de-reservation procedures, the responsibilities of Liaison Officers, audit mechanisms and the process of roster recasting through practical exercises.
The sessions were led by Dr Pankaj KP Shreyaskar, who conducted lectures and interactive discussions supported by case studies and hands-on demonstrations of roster preparation and management.
Focus on Administrative Compliance
AIIMS Patna said the workshop was designed to help officials responsible for recruitment and personnel management apply reservation policies accurately and consistently in line with statutory requirements.
Faculty members, doctors, administrative officers and other staff participated in the programme, which combined theoretical sessions with practical exercises intended to improve day-to-day administrative processes.
Officials said such training can help institutions maintain accurate service records while ensuring recruitment procedures comply with applicable government rules.
Closing Ceremony
The workshop concluded with a certificate and prize distribution ceremony attended by Executive Director Prof. (Brig.) Raju Agarwal, Deputy Director (Administration) Nilotpal Bal and Dean (Academics) Prof. Punam Prasad Bhadani.
Addressing participants, Agarwal said careful implementation of reservation policies and systematic roster management are essential for transparency, equity and legal compliance in public institutions. He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the workshop in their respective administrative and academic roles.

According to AIIMS Patna, the workshop forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen institutional governance through regular capacity-building programmes.
The institute said the training is expected to improve its ability to maintain reservation rosters, implement recruitment rules and ensure compliance with reservation norms across departments in accordance with Government of India regulations.
