Patna: Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has intensified his criticism of the NDA government over the arrest of students involved in protests linked to the NEET paper leak controversy and demands for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
In a post on X on Monday, Yadav alleged that students arrested during the protests had not yet been released and warned that the government could face political consequences if they remained in custody.
Yadav accused Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s government of disregarding democratic practices. He alleged that force was used against protesting students and claimed that thousands had been detained and booked in “fabricated cases”.

He also alleged that the families of arrested students were being harassed.
Warning Of Statewide Agitation
Yadav had issued a similar warning a day earlier, saying that if the arrested students were not released by Monday, his party would launch a state-wide agitation.
He also linked the arrest of his elder brother and former minister Tej Pratap Yadav to the student issue, describing both developments as examples of what he called governmental authoritarianism.
The allegations come amid continuing political tensions in Bihar over the student protests, the NEET controversy and the government’s handling of the agitation.
Tej Pratap Yadav In Judicial Custody
Tej Pratap Yadav was arrested on the night of July 25 and subsequently sent to Beur Central Jail in 14-day judicial custody, according to the information provided.
According to jail sources, Yadav was taken to the jail hospital ward after complaining of chest discomfort following his arrival at Beur Jail.
The sources said he initially refused the food served on Saturday night under the jail manual. He also skipped breakfast on Sunday morning.
Later, after jail officials persuaded him to eat, he reportedly had roti, rice and a small portion of vegetables.
The developments have added to the political tensions surrounding the student agitation and the opposition’s demand for the release of arrested protesters.
