Patna: The Gopalganj administration has instructed banks to ensure that eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana do not face unnecessary delays in obtaining loans for rooftop solar installations. During a review meeting, District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh directed officials and bankers to complete the implementation of the scheme in a time-bound manner and maximise beneficiary coverage.
According to the district administration, banks should not reject loan applications without valid reasons, particularly in cases where applicants meet the scheme’s eligibility criteria.
DM Reviews Scheme Progress
During the meeting, Sameer Saurabh reviewed the progress of rooftop solar installations and directed departments to work in coordination with banks to accelerate implementation.
He emphasised that the objective is to ensure more eligible households benefit from the scheme within the stipulated timeline.
Subsidy of Up to Rs 78,000
The District Magistrate said beneficiaries installing rooftop solar systems can receive subsidies of up to Rs 78,000, depending on the approved capacity under the scheme.
Officials were asked to create greater awareness so that eligible families can take advantage of the financial assistance available.
Two Support Models Under the Scheme
According to the district administration, the PM Surya Ghar Yojana offers two forms of support.
Households that choose to install rooftop solar systems independently are eligible for the prescribed government subsidy.
For economically weaker families, the scheme also provides access to subsidised bank loans in addition to financial assistance, making solar installations more affordable.
