Bagaha/Patna: The carcass of a tiger has been recovered from Bihar’s Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR), with forest officials launching an investigation into the cause of its death.
The tiger was found in Compartment No. 36 of the Valmikinagar forest range after forest personnel received information about the carcass. A team led by the range officer reached the site and began a search operation.
The carcass was recovered from dense bushes at around 2pm and taken to the Forest Department complex for further examination.
Injuries Suggest Territorial Conflict
According to forest officials, the tiger appeared to be in a weakened condition when it was found. A team of veterinarians examined the animal at the site and confirmed that it had died.
Preliminary inspection of the carcass revealed deep wounds on the tiger’s body, leading officials to suspect that it may have been injured during a territorial clash with another tiger.
Forest officials believe the injuries may have left the animal unable to hunt, ultimately resulting in its death. However, they stressed that this remains a preliminary assessment.
Post-Mortem Underway
A post-mortem examination is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Forest Department officials said the final conclusions would be drawn only after the post-mortem report is received.
The department has initiated a detailed investigation into the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding the tiger’s death.
