Patna: Bihar’s Home Department has issued a notification appointing India cricketers Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep as Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) under the state’s sports quota.
According to the notification issued by the Police Wing on Friday, the appointments will take effect after the verification of the players’ educational qualifications and sports certificates.
Appointment Subject To Verification
The notification states that both cricketers will be allowed to join the Bihar Police Headquarters only after the verification process is completed. Their appointment is contingent upon the successful validation of the required documents in accordance with the recruitment rules.
Five-Year Bond Mandatory
Under the Bihar rules governing the direct recruitment of outstanding sportspersons, Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep must continue to participate in sporting competitions as active athletes for the next five years.
To fulfil this requirement, both players must execute a mandatory bond before assuming office. The notification states that if the conditions of the bond are not met, their services will not be confirmed.
Appointment Letters Issued Earlier
The notification follows the distribution of appointment letters to several sportspersons under the state’s sports quota recruitment initiative.
Earlier, the appointment letters were handed over to Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep and other athletes at a government function in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
